PostSubject: Funeral Urns   Wed Apr 22, 2009 11:24 pm

I'm putting together a whole new line of funeral urns that will be containers. These will be the same as the treasure chests and Alied casks found throughout Tamriel. Here is the first completed Urn. It has a jade dragon on top. These Urns will be about waist high and modders can place whatever they want inside. Each Urn will have a diferent item or creature on the lid and the textures of the item/creatures will be diferent for each.

These Urns are actually my entry in the Million Member contest on the nexus but I will be using them in Pellucidar. Each Urn will have the name of a modder I respect, admire or that has been a great help to me in my learning experience.

Here are the names I'm making Urns for so far

LHammonds--Jade dragon(shown)--modeled/textured needs name placement

SickleYield--Jumping spider--modeled needs name placement and texture

AlienSlof--Mexican red knee turantula--modeled needs name placement and texture

JDFan--Anvil and hammer--modeled needs name placement and texture

Myrmaad--Mermaid--not started

VagrantO--?? an owl was suggested by LHammonds??-- not started

Buddah--??Buddha??--not started

Darkone--??LHammonds suggested a beaver?? -- not started

Savage Artistry--?? no idea yet??-- not started

Waalx--two crossed swords and a battle axe--modeled needs name placement and texture

I started the Owl for Vagrant but am not impressed with it. I need to figure out something else or how to make it better.

That's my top ten at the moment but it may change. I need to figure out what animals/creatures/items to use for each. I also need to come up with a name for them but I may stay with Funeral Urns. I have made these in parts and am working on versions with the lids open and damaged. My textures are all working fine but for some odd reason, my lettering will not work. The white area on the front of each Urn will have a modders name on it. I downloaded the daedric font and it works in gimp, paint.net and in MS Paint but the texture simply will not apply to the mesh. I can see it in blender but the texture isn't there in nifskope or the CS. I add the correct dds file in nifskope but the area remains blank. I'll have to figure this out soon if I am going to enter this in the contest.

Very cool! These would be useful containers for all sorts of mods.

Regarding the texture problem, I don't know if this will help or not, but when I was trying to make the leather body texture, the texture REFUSED to show up in the game until I renamed the group to something other than "skin." If that's the issue then I'm not sure what to suggest the problem group be named, but maybe it can give you an idea of what's going on.

I've attached a screencap of what I mean about renaming that group.

I find the best way I get around problems is to take a working resource and study what's different between it and mine that is not working. In this case, maybe taking one of the vanilla Ayelid urns and looking at it will help (presuming you have not already done that).

Also - you're going to dedicate one of the urns to me? I'm touched. Thank you! If you want suggestions, well you know I'm pretty dark and gothic. You could do a cross or a blood droplet. I also like horses if you'd prefer something like that. Very Happy

That may help, I'll have to try that but the thing is, I really don't know what I'm looking for. Nifskope is still a mystery to me.

I may not use the mods that you make but I can appreciate the talent that went into each. I know that I can count on you for help and that you can and have helped me with textures. You didn't forget the statues did you? I'm still going to include them in my mod. On top of those reasons, I feel comfortable on your forum so why wouldn't I include you n my entry?

Oh, I think I can come up with something gothic since I've always identified with goths.

This list wasn't an easy thing to compile. There are a lot of people who I would love to make Urns for ( Ingame only, not wishing anything bad on anyone) but I had to keep it small enough for me to complete in time. These ten people have been the most help to me except for Darkone. I added him for no other reason that he owns the Nexus and it's his contest. I would have rather added Maigrets or dezdimona, maybe I'll add them later.
